Shahid Khan was born on 18th July 1950 in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. Shahid Khan residence is Naples, FL. Shahid Khan is a Pakistani-American billionaire businessman. Shahid Khan is the owner of the Jacksonville jaguars of the National Football League, the English Football League Championship team Fulham F.C. Shahid Khan is also the owner of automobile parts manufacture Flex-N-Gate in Urbana Illinois. As of May 2015, His net worth is over 4.6 billion Dollar. He is ranked 121st in the Forbes 400 list of richest Americans and is overall the 360th richest person in the world. Shahid Khan is also one of the wealthiest persons of Pakistan.
Early Life
Shahid Khan was born to a middle class family in Lahore, Pakistan who were involved in the construction industry. Shahid Khan's mother was a professor of mathematics. Shahid khan transferred to the USA in 1967 at age of 16 to study at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Campaign. When Shahid Khan reached to the united states, he spent his first night at the university of YMCA and his 1st job was cleaning dishes for $1.02 for 1 hour. He graduated with a BSc in industrial engineering from the UIUC College of Engineering in 1971. In Year 1971 he became a US citizen. Shahid Khan is Muslim.
In Year1980, Shahid Khan bought Flex-N-Gate automotive manufacturing company from his former employer Charles Gleason Butzow, bringing Bumper Works into the fold. He grew the company so that it supplied bumpers for the Big Three automakers. In year 1984, Khan began supplying a very small number of bumpers for Toyota pickups. By 1987 Khan was the sole supplier for Toyota pickups and by 1989 it was the sole supplier for the all Toyota line in the USA. The Toyota Sensei instruction drastically transformed the company ability and efficiency to change its manufacturing process within a few minutes. Since then the company has grown from $17 million in sales to an estimated $2 billion.
In May 2012, The Flex-N-Gate was fined for $57,000 for health violations at its Urbana plant by Occupational Safety and Health Administration. By year 2011, Flex-N-Gate had 48 manufacturing plants and 12,450 mployees in the USA and several other countries. Weaver announced his sale of the team to Khan later that same day. The sale was finalized on 4 january 2012. The purchase price for 100% share in the Jaguars was estimated to have been $760 million. The NFL owners unanimously approved the purchase on December 14, 2011. The sale made Khan the first member of an ethnic minority ever to own an NFL team.
Recognition
In year 1999, Including Distinguished Alumnus Award from the Department of Mechanical Science and Industrial Engineering, He has received a number of awards from the University of Illinois. Khan also received numerous awards such as in 2006, the Alumni Award for Distinguished Service from the the College of Engineering. In 2005 Khan with his wife Ann received the Distinguished Service Award from the University of Illinois Alumni Association.
